Death Row Inmate Paroled Because Of Mental Deficiencies

A 60-year-old man who spent nearly 40 years on Texas' death row is being granted a parole. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles voted on Monday in favor of Bobby Moore's release. Moore was sentenced to die after fatally shooting a 73-year-old Houston store clerk in an armed robbery. After lengthy appeals, the United States Supreme Court ruled that an intellectually disabled killer, such as Moore, was ineligible for the death penalty. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg supported the change of Moore's sentence to life, from which he then obtained parole.
