Alamo Grounds Closed Tonight Following Saturday Night's Rioting

The grounds around the Alamo in San Antonio are being closed tonight amid concerns about protests after violence erupted at the end of a protest last night. Mayor Ron Nirenberg had already issued an overnight curfew for downtown San Antonio.

The curfew was to run from 10 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday and only impacted downtown San Antonio. Nirenberg said he hoped this would be the last night to have to have the curfew.

In reacting to the violence of Saturday night, Nirenberg said, "the ugly scenes didn't remind me or anyone else of our San Antonio."

"We all know our city has a unique way to come together during a crisis. This moment is no different. We have rallied from worse and will be stronger as our community comes together to heal," said Nirenberg.
