Storm damage is being reported in Montague County in North Texas after a tornado touchdown. Some buildings and homes were damaged in the town of Bowie and power was knocked out for much of the area after the storm hit last night. Part of the roof was blown off the Best Western Inn and Suites.
There were no reports of injuries.
Governor Greg Abbott deployed resources to the area to assist in response.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by the severe weather affecting North Texas tonight,” said Governor Abbott. “I am grateful to our first responders who are always on call and already moving to help their fellow Texans. The state will work with Montague County, and any other area affected, to ensure any resources they need will be fulfilled.”
Teams will be surveying the damage today.
Bowie is located about 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
