Bexar County Sheriff Calls On State To Collect Prison Inmates

The Bexar County sheriff is calling on the state to resume picking up its inmates bound for Texas prisons. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice put a freeze on picking up inmates from county jails last month as a way of stopping the spread of coronavirus. Sheriff Javier Salazar says if it's safe enough to open tattoo parlors, salons, and movie theaters, then it's time for the TDC to pick up its inmates. Sheriff Salazar says holding the inmates has cost taxpayers over 620-thousand dollars.
