Mayor Ron Nirenberg says the county's percentage of positive COVID-19 tests is dropping. The mayor said the rate of 4.3% is half of what it was in April. Nirenberg said there are currently 70 patients in the hospital with COVID-19, including 16 on ventilators. He said the Metro Health data team was off this weekend, so there was no information on new cases.
Nirenberg says the city will provide essential items to small businesses who need them. Nirenberg said the items include masks, gloves, plexiglass, and a touchless thermometer to help protect workers and customers from COVID-19. Any business who wants the items is asked to register at Bexar.org
A mobile testing site for COVID-19 is now open on the southeast side. You can get a test at the PRE-K For SA South Education Center at 7301 South New Braunfels Avenue. The site will be open daily from nine a.m. to five p.m. until May 20th, but an appointment is required. To schedule an appointment, go to TXCOVIDTest.org
