Three Texas Congressmen Urge Abbott To Freeze Property Valuations

The Rio Grande Valley congressmen are joining other Texas Democrats in urging Governor Abbott to freeze this year's property tax valuations. Representatives Vicente Gonzalez, Filemon Vela and Henry Cuellar have joined seven other Texas congressmen in a letter sent to Abbott Wednesday. The group asks the governor to suspend any increases in property tax valuations, as well as any interest or penalties connected to property taxes. The congressmen called the coronavirus pandemic an unprecedented crisis and asked the governor to grant hardworking Texans financial relief by suspending any increases.
