Law enforcement agencies in Bexar County report vehicle thefts and break-ins are on the rise. The Sheriff's Office reported an eleven-percent increase in the number of vehicle thefts across the county in March and April of this year compared to last year. They also report an 18% increase in burglaries of homes and businesses during the same period. Other crimes, such as family violence and drugs, are down. Sheriff Javier Salazar says he believes crimes of this nature are still being committed, but not as much out in the open.
