Mortgage Purchase Applications Rise 3rd Straight Week

More Americans are getting in line to buy homes as interest rates fall to record lows. Overall mortgage application volume was up one-percent last week but purchase applications were up 7%, the third straight weekly rise. The national average interest rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage fell three basis points, to a record low of three-point-four percent. The drop in interest rates didn't do anything for refinance applications, which fell 2% last week.
