Carnival Cruise ships plan to start trips from Galveston in August. The company announced the plan today promising a measured approach to reopening including ports which are accessible by vehicle. Carnival officials also say they are keeping in contact with the government and health officials on how to protect people from coronavirus.
Carnival Dream, Carnival Freedom and Carnival Vista are expected to resume cruises from Galveston.
The company said, "We are committed to supporting all public health efforts to manage the COVID-19 situation. We are taking a measured approach, focusing our return to service on a select number of homeports where we have more significant operations that are easily accessible by car for the majority of our guests."
