Texas-Based Halliburton Announces Closures, Layoffs

Halliburton is laying off more employees in Texas and Oklahoma as record low oil prices persist. The Houston-based oilfield service giant is closing its Elmendorf facility near San Antonio and moving those operations to the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas. More than 380 workers were laid-off. In addition, more than 200 workers are being let go from the Kilgore service center, whose operations are being sent to Louisiana. Another 240 Halliburton employees were laid off earlier in the week from a service center in Oklahoma.
