More Than 46% Of Bexar County COVID-19 Cases Have Now Recovered

Metro Health officials are reporting 48 new cases, but also an increase in the number of people who have recovered since the pandemic began. There have now been 13-hundred-74 cases, and of those more than 46% have already recovered. The death toll now stands at 48.

The head of the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District says she wants to continue to increase coronavirus testing capacity. Dr. Dawn Emerick told San Antonio City Council on Thursday that Metro Health officials aim to expand the overall local testing capacity from 16-hundred tests a day to three-thousand by the end of June. The increased tests will allow for the study of transmission of the virus by people who show no symptoms. Emerick said increased testing will require more supplies, which she's expecting by mid-May.
