Friends are remembering San Marcos Police Officer Justin Putnam who was shot and killed in the line of duty during an ambush on Saturday. Two other officers are in critical condition and the gunman took his own life. In a tweet yesterday, Westwood High School football head coach Anthony Wood says when he coached Officer Putnam he was "an amazing kid" and was a great representative of the school's football and soccer programs. Interim Police Chief Bob Klett says Officer Putnam graduated magna cum laude from Texas State University and that "he understood what it takes to police a wonderfully diverse community and college town like San Marcos."
