The San Antonio Police Department is taking additional safety measures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Police Chief William McManus has issued a special order stipulating that all officers responding to a call should be wearing protective eyewear and N95 masks, when safe to do so.
Also effective immediately, personnel working inside police facilities are to wear a surgical or cloth mask in all situations where it is not possible to maintain 6 foot or more social distancing.
McManus said, "the safety of our personnel is our top priority."
