The state comptroller is reminding Texans that a state sales tax holiday on emergency supplies is coming up next weekend. The annual tax holiday is designed to encourage Texans to purchase items like batteries, flashlights, hurricane shutters and portable generators in order to be ready for both the hurricane season and strong spring storms. Supplies tied to the coronavirus pandemic such as masks, cleaning supplies and toilet paper are not eligible for the sale tax exemption. The sales tax holiday will run from just after midnight April 25th through midnight on April 27th.
