A chemistry professor at UTSA is working to develop a treatment that could help people suffering from coronavirus symptoms. Dr. Doug Frantz and his research team shipped about 250 compounds they'd developed to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for testing. He says they're similar to chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, two anti-malaria drugs that are being tried out on coronavirus patients. Frantz says his aim is to create a treatment similar to Tamiflu, but several years of clinical trials will be needed first.
