Mayor Ron Nirenberg says the city will crack down on non-essential San Antonio businesses that stay open in defiance of stay-at-home orders. The mayor specifically referred to Planet K, a head shop with several locations that have received repeated citations for staying open. Nirenberg said the city will show "zero tolerance for fools." He said the city is working to help 270 furloughed city employees get unemployment benefits and health care. He said he hopes the city won't have to lay off any more employees.
Meanwhile, Metro Health is reporting there are now 554 COVID-19 cases in Bexar County, with 20 deaths. Â
