Texas Democrats Sue To Expand Voting By Mail

The Texas Democratic Party is suing to expand the availability of mail-in voting as a safety measure during the coronavirus pandemic. State law limits mail-in ballots to voters age 65 or older, those who can't vote in person for health reasons, eligible voters in jail, and people out of the country. The state party filed the federal lawsuit on Tuesday in San Antonio. The lawsuit seeks to allow voters to mail in ballots as a means of social distancing. A primary runoff election originally set for May 26 has since been re-scheduled by Governor Greg Abbott for July 14th.
