Big Give Event Restructures to Fund Emergency Relief

The Nonprofit Council is celebrating an exciting milestone, announcing that donations to area nonprofits through The Big Give Emergency Relief platform, thebiggivesa.org, have officially surpassed the $500,000 mark, less than 3 weeks after the emergency donation site launched.

“So many of our nonprofits are on the front lines working to provide urgent services such as food, emergency shelter, medical assistance and more,” said Scott McAninch, CEO of The Nonprofit Council.  “With such tremendous need, area nonprofits are experiencing unprecedented strains on their human- and financial resources. We are thankful to the caring people in the 15 counties we serve who understand the tremendous needs and have opened their hearts and wallets to help.”

McAninch says the need is ongoing, so the emergency relief donation site will remain open until further notice.

On March 19, The Nonprofit Council repurposed its annual day of giving website, thebiggivesa.org, into the Big Give Emergency Relief platform. The 582 participating nonprofits each have their own individual pages to share their current needs and asks. Donors are able to make donations to the nonprofits of their choice, and those funds go directly to the nonprofits they have selected.  Donated funds are automatically deposited into a nonprofit’s bank account within 5-7 business days and will be available for use then.

The regular Big Give annual fundraising event has been postponed until September.
