SCOTUS Rejects Texas Death Row Inmate's Plea

The U.S. Supreme Court is rejecting an appeal by a Texas death row inmate. The court announced on Monday its decision concerning 42-year-old Randy Halprin, a Jewish man who wants a new trial because he claims his trial judge was anti-Semitic. Halprin was condemned for taking part in the murder of an Irving police officer during an armed robbery in 2000. Six days before his scheduled execution in October, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ordered a Dallas County district court to investigate the claims of anti-Semitism. That probe is underway, and no new execution date has been set.
