Fourth Texas Execution Postponed Because Of Coronavirus

US-JUSTICE-EXECUTION

A fourth Texas execution is being delayed because of the coronavirus outbreak. The trial court granted the prosecutors' request to move 45-year-old Billy Joe Wardlow's execution from April 29th to July 8th. Wardlow was 18 when he murdered an 82-year-old East Texas man in 1993 while stealing his pickup truck. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has already issued 60-day stays for three executions that were set for March and April. The court referred to the "the enormous resources needed to address" the outbreak.
