Health officials say Bexar County now has eleven confirmed cases of coronavirus. San Antonio's new coronavirus website says four of the cases are travel-related, four were spread within the community, and the other three are still being investigated. The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District reports that five of the cases are in San Antonio.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg tweeted:
"Metro Health confirmed a total of 11 COVID-19 cases in Bexar County earlier this evening. - 4 cases are travel-related. - 4 cases are considered "close contact" - 3 cases are still under investigation.
"Close contact" means they shared a close space or live with a travel-related case. All of the confirmed positive cases were already self-quarantining to minimize community spread. These cases were expected based on their relationship or contact with travel-related cases.
Individuals who have come into close contact with the confirmed patients are being contacted, self-quarantining and monitored as part of ongoing epidemiological investigations.
Metro Health has tested 58 people in Bexar County. 47 negatives. 11 positives."
Just to the north of San Antonio, there are now 17 cases of coronavirus in Austin and 3 in Hays County.
