Houston Livestock Show And Rodeo Shuts Down Over Coronavirus Concerns

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is shutting down early due to coronavirus. Mayor Sylvester Turner announced today he's going to sign a seven-day emergency health declaration ending all concerts and events at the rodeo. The Tour de Houston bike race set for this weekend has been postponed as have all town hall meetings. Turner cited a coronavirus case in nearby Montgomery County as reason for the decision. Houston Livestock and Rodeo officials had previously said they were taking precautions but were not planning to end the multi-week event early.

The rodeo issued the following statement, "The Rodeo is deeply saddened; however, the safety and well-being of our guests and our community is our top priority. Out of precaution, the City has decided that this is the best course of action for our community. A ticket refund process is still in the works and will be communicated once it is finalized."
