State Senate committee hearings are called off for the rest of March because of coronavirus concerns. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick says he made the call after talking with committee leaders. Today's scheduled meeting of the Senate Select Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety is the first to go. A Senate Education Committee hearing scheduled for Wednesday is also canceled. House Speaker Dennis Bonnen says he's leaving it up to House committee leaders to decide whether to cancel House hearings.
