Parents Lose Thousands After Band Trip Canceled Because Of Coronavirus

Dozens of families in the North East ISD may have lost thousands of dollars after the district canceled a trip to Austria over coronavirus worries. Orchestra students from MacArthur High School were scheduled to leave on Thursday, but NEISD administrators called off the trip. Parents who put up about four-thousand-dollars a person for the trip say they weren't consulted about the decision. About half of the group bought travel insurance, but Austria isn't under a CDC travel ban, so the insurance agency won't cover a full refund.
