Governor Greg Abbott plans to ask half-a-million Texas educators how they think school safety can be improved. On Wednesday, Abbott announced the start of the School Safety and Victims' Services Research Survey, which will ask about school preparedness in dealing with natural disasters, active shooters, and other crises. The survey will reportedly take about 20 minutes to complete, and results will be assessed by Sam Houston State University and the Texas School Safety Center at Texas State University. Policymakers will use the results to make decisions about violence in schools, campus safety, and mental health.
