As concerns continue over the coronavirus, the Northside Independent School District has sent out letters to parents saying the district is taking all necessary precautions to keep students safe.

N-I-S-D superintendent Brian Woods' letter says while the district believes the risk of it impacting the school is low, they wanted to assure parents they were monitoring the matter. The district said a protocol is in place that would insure local health officials are engaged. Officials also said district health care providers and other staff are utilizing screening tools provided by the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District to help identify individuals potentially needing further medical follow up. While they do not anticipate school closures, a plan is in place to notify parents and the community in the unlikely event that were to happen. They're also reviewing possible options for alternative instruction in the event a school closure took place.
