The U.S. Supreme Court will not hear the appeal of a Texas death row inmate with a catch. Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued the appeal denial for Rodney Reed today but noted a pall of uncertainty over his conviction. Sotomayor says another pending appeal by Reed in Texas contains more evidence which could clear him in the 1996 killing of Stacey Stites. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals stayed Reed's execution last November asking a lower court to review claims evidence was suppressed at trial and whether Reed is actually innocent.
