Company Where Explosion Took Place Files For Bankruptcy

Fire Line

The business in northwest Houston that was the site of last month's deadly explosion is filing for bankruptcy. Watson Grinding and Manufacturing, on Gessner near Clay Road, suffered a propylene blast that killed two employees and damaged or destroyed more than 400 homes in the area. Company officials say their Chapter 11 filing will help the company stay in business as it reorganizes. For now, Watson is laying off nearly 80 employees, and is on the receiving end of several lawsuits.
