Neighborhood Cluster Mailboxes Broken Into, Mail Stolen

Hands flipping through mail

Residents of a neighborhood on the city's Northeast Side say somebody's breaking into their mailboxes and stealing their mail. The thefts have been happening at cluster mailboxes in the Crownwood subdivision for the past couple of weeks. Neighbors say this same problem crops up every year, usually during tax season, when their W-2 forms are stolen and their Social Security numbers compromised. They say the mailboxes are easy to break into because they're more than 30-years old, and once they're damaged, they aren't repaired.
