A U.S. judge is ordering the opposing sides in a dispute over Texas voter registration to meet with tech specialists by the end of this week. District Judge Orlando Garcia had earlier ruled that the 1993 National Voter Registration Act requires the state to enable Texans to register to vote at the same time they renew a driver's license online. State officials had estimated it would take 90 days to enact the "motor voter" capability. Garcia on Monday gave lawyers on both sides until next Monday to file declarations about how feasible proposed fixes are and how long it would take to put them into effect.
