Converse Man Convicted Of 2016 Capital Murder

Gavel on sounding block

A man from Converse is on his way to prison for life after being found guilty of capital murder. A Bexar County jury deliberated less than two hours on Monday before convicting 25-year-old Tyler Collins of a shooting death in 2016. Collins fatally shot Thomas Mirone during a drug deal. He claimed self-defense, even though he shot Mirone in the back. Collins got an automatic sentence of life in prison with no parole because prosecutors didn't seek the death penalty.
