State AG Paxton Won't Defend Agency Being Sued For Disciplining A Judge

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says he has no plans to defend a state agency that's being sued for disciplining a judge. The Commission on Judicial Conduct issued a warning to Judge Dianne Hensley of Waco for refusing to officiate same-sex marriages. Hensley is suing the commission over the rebuke.  A spokesman for Paxton repeated the previously stated position of the AG's office that judges don't give up their religious freedom when they take the bench. The spokesman added that the commission is authorized to represent itself in court.
