Dallas Police Discipline Former Vice Unit Officers

Over 20 former members of the now-disbanded Dallas Police Vice Unit are being disciplined following an internal investigation. Police said today a review found unit members used gambling winnings to replace confidential funds and failed to put evidence in DPD's property room. Several officers were also accused of giving investigators misleading statements. No charges will be filed because investigators say they were not able to prove or disprove any crimes. The officers were reprimanded and suspended without pay. Police Chief U. Renee Hall said today the discipline is necessary to help turn DPD into a world class department.
