Cook Children's Health Care System is filing an appellate brief for the sake of the emotional well-being of its doctors and nurses caring for a baby on life support. The hospital says its staff experiences moral distress when caring for Tinslee Lewis, who was born with serious heart and lung problems. The court filing says nurses at the hospital have requested shift changes to stay away from what is being called a "cruel" assignment. The hospital says she'll never improve and is suffering needlessly, but the baby's family is looking for another hospital that will continue to provide care. A court has issued an injunction to keep the hospital from taking the girl off life support.
