Former SAISD Lanier Teacher Charged With Relationship With Student

A former teacher at San Antonio Lanier High school has been arrested today charges of carrying on a 6 month sexual affair with a 16 year old girl, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The SAISD says Jose Hernandez was with the SAISD for two years, both at Lanier High School.

A police affidavit says the teenager who was allegedly involved has provided photographs, of sexual activity that Jose Hernandez, 44, sent to her via social media.

The affidavit says Hernandez would connive to allow the girl to skip school so the two could meet at a nearby motel.

It is not known where the girl attended school.

"This news is very disturbing," the SAISD said in a statement. "No concerns about an improper teacher-student relationship were ever brought to the District Human Resources department. We are fully looking into this matter and are contacting the Texas Education Agency to alert them of what has been reported. We want parents to know that the safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority."

Hernandez was with the SAISD for two years, both years at Lanier.

Hernandez is charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student.
