Governor Greg Abbott has granted a pardon to a sex trafficking survivor. Yesterday Abbott announced the pardon of Robbie Ann Hamilton on Human Trafficking Awareness Day following a unanimous vote from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. Hamilton was lured into sex trafficking at the age of fifteen, which led to her arrest. However, the governor says she turned her life around when she turned to God. She became involved in groups including Alcoholics Anonymous and New Friends New Life, and committed herself to helping homeless addicts. In a statement, Abbott says Hamilton is a testament that our lives are not defined by how we are challenged, but how we respond to those challenges.
