Pentagon To Deploy 3,500 More Troops To Middle East

Map of Iran

The Pentagon is sending about 35-hundred more soldiers to the Middle East following the airstrike that killed a top Iranian general. NBC News cites defense officials as saying the additional troops will be deployed to Iraq, Kuwait and other parts of the region. The move comes on the heels of an American airstrike in Baghdad that took out General Qassem Soleimani and several other militia leaders.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is again condemning the House impeachment of President Trump. Speaking on the Senate floor, McConnell called it the most rushed and most unfair impeachment inquiry in U.S. history. He said Democrats have a "dangerous partisan fever." The Senate is responsible for holding a trial to determine whether Trump is removed from office. Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not sent the House articles of impeachment to the Senate and has revealed no timetable for doing so.
