New complex of apartment buildings under construction

An industry study says Dallas is at the top of the list of 20 U.S. cities that have built the most apartments over the past ten years. RENTCafe, a website for apartment hunters, says the renter population grew at twice the rate of the homeowner population during that period. Dallas has built 149,000 units in the past ten years, putting it ahead of New York City which came in second with 125,000 units. Houston is third on the list with an estimated 114,000 new apartments over the past decade. Washington, DC and Los Angeles round out the top five.
