Woman Charged with 'Destroying or Concealing' a Human Corpse

A 36 year old Bexar County woman is under arrest after Sheriff's investigators say they had reason to believe that she disposed of her newborn baby, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Sheriff Javier Salazar reports that Victoria Ochoa reporting giving birth at Southwest General Hospital hospital and having complications in the delivery. She said she delivered a baby while on the toilet at the hospital. But after investigators looked into her story, they determined that it didn't hold up.

"Even a small baby of that gestational period would have been way to big to flush the way she described it," he said.

He says deputies emptied the septic tank in search of evidence.

"They actually went to the home, which is on a septic system, it should be noted, they pumped the contents of that septic system pursuant to that warrant. I'm told it was upward of a thousand gallons of raw sewage.

Ochoa has been charged with altering, destroying, or concealing a human corpse. He says additional charges would be coming in the case
