The city of Dallas hit a tragic milestone this week. City officials say there have been 200 murders reported this year for the first time since 2007. Mayor Eric Johnson wrote a letter to city manager earlier this month calling the rise in violent crime "patently unacceptable." The mayor has called for the Dallas Police Department to devise a long-term plan to reduce crime in the city before the end of the year. Notable homicides this year include the death of former NBA player Andre Emmett, who was shot and killed outside of his home in September.
