A Texas House panel is recommending no charges against outgoing House Speaker Dennis Bonnen. The committee decided today Bonnen should not face criminal prosecution although they did suggest he could have committed solicitation of bribery. It has to do with a June meeting between Bonnen and conservative activist Michael Quinn Sullivan. Sullivan taped the meeting which appeared to show Bonnen offered his news outlet access to the Texas House floor in exchange for targeting ten incumbent Republicans next year. Bonnen also made disparaging comments about multiple House members including suggesting on Democrat was gay, but his wife didn't know it.
