Man arrested following mercury spill in Houston

Police and the FBI are investigating following a mercury spill in Houston over the weekend. The heavy metal was found in three locations around 1 p.m. Sunday near Westview Drive and the West Belt. Emergency personnel closed streets in the area and decontaminated several dozen people to be on the safe side. Officials say there was little risk of harm to the public because less than a pint of mercury was found in the parking lots of a Walmart, a Sonic, and a Shell gas station. A 19-year-old is in custody and being questioned in the case.
