11 of the nation's fastest-growing cities are in Texas

A new study says 11 of the nation's fastest-growing cities by percentage are in Texas and Conroe tops the list.

 A web site called 24/7 Tempo says Conroe has more than doubled its population since 2000, from about 37,077. Conroe city officials say they expect there to be 100,000 Conroe residents by next year. 

Frisco, Texas is ranked 3rd on the list. Frisco’s population was only 33,714 in 2000. By 2010, nearly 117,000 people had moved there. In 2018, Frisco reported 155,363.

McKinney, Texas was 5th on the list. McKinney more than tripled in size between 2010 and 2018. This Dallas-area suburb had by far the largest growth by percentage of any large city. The city reported a population growth of more than 25% between 2000 and 2018. There were 131,117 in 2000 and 164,760 reported in 2018.

Pearland, Texas was 6th on the list. Pearland grew 24.6% between 2010 and 2018, reporting 91,252 in 2010 and 113,693 in 2018.

New Braunfels, Texas was 10th on the list, increasing population 21.8% from 2010 to 2018. New Braunfels saw the population increasing from 57,740 in 2010 to 70,317 in 2018.

Midland, Texas was 16th on the list, increasing 18.1% from 2010 to 2018. Midland's population increased from 111,147 in 2010 to 131,286 in 2018.

League City, Texas was 19th on the list. League City's population increased 17.5% from 2010 to 2018, with the population growing from 83,560 to 98,215.

Round Rock, Texas was ranked 21st on the list, growing 16.5% from 2010 to 2018. Round Rock saw its population increase from 99,887 to 116,369.

Austin, Texas was 23rd on the list, growing 16% from 2010 to 2018. Austin increased population from 790,390 to 916,906 between 2010 and 2018.

Odessa, Texas was 24th on the list. Odessa grew 16.0% from 2010 to 2018, growing from 99,940 to 115,930.

Denton, Texas rounded out the Top 25, growing 15.6% between 2010 and 2018. Denton saw its population grow from 113,383 to 131,097 between 2010 and 2018.

While Texas largest city's didn't make the Top 25 fasted growing by percentage, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston all saw substantial growth as well.

Houston's population grew 10.7%, growing from 2,099,451 to 2,325,502 in 2018.

San Antonio saw its population grew more than 200,000 residents from 2010 to 2018, going from 1,327,407 to 1,532,233, an increase of 15.4%.

Dallas' population grew 12.3%, growing from 1,197,816 in 2010 to 1,345,047 in 2018.
