Tens of thousands of California residents are being forced from their homes due to wildfires in the southern and northern parts of the state.
The Kincade Fire burning in northern Sonoma County, California has now torched nearly 22-thousand acres with just five-percent containment. During the morning briefing, Cal Fire said they will be using helicopters again to fight the blaze throughout the day. The blaze started Wednesday night and has been fanned by high winds, although winds are expected to be calmer today before picking back up tomorrow. The San Francisco-Bay Area is under a Spare the Air alert because of the smoke in the air.
The Tick Fire burning in northern Los Angeles County is growing. Cal Fire officials say the Fire has grown to 43-hundred acres but is still only five-percent contained. Over 500 Firefighters are battling the blaze in Santa Clarita, using not only ground crews but a major aerial assault. About 50-thousand people had to leave their homes due to the Fire danger. How the Fire started remains a mystery.
