Affidavit Released In Fort Worth Officer-Involved Shooting

Police Lights and Sirens Law Enforcements

Fort Worth police are releasing an affidavit providing more information about the night Atatiana Jefferson was shot and killed by a police officer. The now-ex officer, Aaron Dean, was charged with murder on Monday and is free on bond. The affidavit says Jefferson was playing video games with her young nephew when police responded to her house last weekend, after a neighbor called concerned about her door being open. The nephew is quoted as saying his aunt heard noises coming from outside, she took a handgun from her purse and pointed it towards the window, which is when she was shot.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people attended the first Fort Worth City Council meeting since the shooting death of Jefferson on Tuesday. Some of the dozens of speakers in the public comment portion called for the resignations of the city manager and assistant manager for what they said was complicit behavior in the treatment of minority communities. Citizens also asked for a police oversight board.
