The state may step in to solve Austin's homeless problems. Governor Abbott sent a letter to Austin Mayor Steve Adler demanding Adler and the city council address growing homelessness problems. The governor says if the issue hasn't been addressed by November 1st, he'll use every state resource possible to in order to protect the health and safety of residents in the city. The action comes after the city of Austin lifted a ban on homeless encampments earlier this year, leading to an alarming number of homeless now camping on sidewalks in front of businesses.
