Imelda May Have Contaminated 126K Groundwater Wells In Texas

Tropical Storm Imelda Brings Heavy Flooding To Houston Area

The National Groundwater Association says Imelda may have contaminated more than 126-thousand household water wells in Texas. Major flooding events often result in contamination of well water with E. coli, coliform, and other disease-carrying microbes from human and animal fecal matter. A spokesman for the association says well owners in the 13 Texas counties affected by Imelda would be well advised to test their systems.
