Former VP Joe Biden says Obamacare worked and needs to be repaired and improved. During the latest Democratic presidential debate in Houston, Biden said healthcare proposals from some of his rivals are just too expensive. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren praised former President Obama and said her universal healthcare plan is the best way to improve on Obamacare. Warren noted that her plan would be paid for by taxing the wealthiest Americans. Warren said Medicare-for-all will help hard-working families across the U.S.
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders argued that Medicare-for-all is the most cost-effective approach to healthcare. He said the U.S. currently pays too much for healthcare. Warren criticized for-profit health insurance companies. Sanders said private health insurance is not working. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar argued that senior citizens should be able to get lower prices for prescription drugs. Meantime, South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg said he is backing "Medicare-for-all who want it."
California Senator Kamala Harris noted that she has proposed Medicare-for-all with a private insurance option. Harris slammed President Trump's attempts to get rid of Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act. She also accused Republicans of aiming to remove protections with pre-existing conditions.
