Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick wants to expand background checks on some gun buys. He tells The Dallas Morning News stranger-to-stranger gun transfers should have to go through a background check calling it common sense. The Republican does not want family members or friends to be subject to background checks. Patrick says he's a solid NRA guy but thinks Texans should not sell guns to strangers without a look into their criminal history. The NRA says any background check plan would involve the government too much.
