The National Weather Service yesterday said Fernand is moving westward with maximum sustained winds of 40-miles an hour. The forecast says the storm will make landfall in central Tamaulipas bringing heavy rains to the Rio Grande Valley through today. There is a rip tide warning through today as well for coastal areas including portions of South Padre Island.

As of 7 AM the center of Tropical Storm Fernand was located roughly 150 miles south of Brownsville, just off the Mexican Coast. No direct impacts from Fernand are currently forecast across South-Central Texas. Heavier rainfall is forecast to remain confined to Deep South Texas.
